Miley Cyrus is an American singer, actress, songwriter, and a guitarist. She earned her fame when she got the lead role in Disney Channel’s original hit series, Hannah Montana, which had its original run in March 2006. She plays the role of a teenage girl that has a double life as an average girl, Miley Stewart and as a rock star, Hannah Montana.
Born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992 in Franklin, Tennessee, she was nicknamed Miley, which is short for Smiley, since she kept on smiling when she was still little. She had her first acting experience at the age of nine when she guested on her father’s show, Doc. In 1993, she played the role of Young Ruthie in the movie Big Fish. She auditioned for a role in Hannah Montana when she was eleven but she was told that she was too small. Due to her persistence, she finally got the role when she was twelve.
Miley Cyrus has written more than one hundred songs, with some of them used on her show. In October 2006, her soundtrack was released. It had eight of the songs that she performed on Hannah Montana. In 2007, she released a double album and she also launched her Best of Both Worlds Tour, which was extended until 2008 due to popular demand. In February 2008, she released a 3D concert movie of her Best of Both Worlds Tour, which debuted in 683 theatres around the world, becoming the highest grossing Super Bowl weekend release. Cyrus is ranked number 1 on the Top 10 Teen Star Countdown of TV Guide in 2008 and is also ranked 17 on The 20 Top-Earning Young Superstars of Forbes in 2007, with an annual earning of $3.5 million.
