FAO Schwarz Inc. announced today that Edward M. Schmults has joined the company as its new Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, Mr. Schmults served as Chief Operating Officer of RedEnvelope, Inc. (Nasdaq: REDE), a retailer of luxury gifts. Mr. Schmults brings to the position an extensive background in branded consumer products and direct-to-consumer businesses in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, including senior roles with companies such as Patagonia and Moonstone (a division of Esprit). He previously held positions at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York and London. Mr. Schmults holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
