Interview: Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton talks about her launching of a more aggressive campaign and how she feels about Oprah Winfrey campaigning for Barack Obama in key three states, Iowa, New Hampshire, and North Carolina. When asked how disappointed she will be if she lost the nomination, Clinton gives a confident answer that she will win it and that she has never even considered the possibility that it won’t be her.

Hillary Clinton was the incumbent Junior United States Senator from New York. She assumed office in 2001, and was elected to a second term. Clinton was a candidate for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 Presidential election. After Barack Obama was nominated, she threw her support behind him. Hillary Clinton now serves on President Obama’s cabinet as the Secretary of State.

The wife of Bill Clinton, Hillary was the First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001. She is the first United States First Lady who got elected to the United States Senate and the first woman to be the senatorial representative of New York.

Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton was born on October 26, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Wellesley College combining scholastic excellence with school government. Se graduated in 1969 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with departmental honors. She attended Yale Law School, served on the Board of Editors of the Yale Review of Law and Social Action, and received her J.D. degree in 1973.

Prior to entering politics, Clinton joined the faculty of the University of Arkansas Law School and the Rose Law Firm. When her husband became governor of Arkansas, she was appointed to the board of the Legal Services Corporation and also chaired a number of committees.

As a First Lady, she was actively involved in public activities. Clinton is one of Time magazine’s Time 100 and is ranked 25th in Forbes 2007 list of the World’s Most Powerful People.

The Secretary of State faces many tough challenges. Ms. Clinton must contend with a worsening situation between Israel and Palestine, political instability in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and the looming nuclear threat from North Korea. She is also tasked by President Obama to rebuild soured relations with America’s European and Asian allies.
