With her signature husky voice, actress Demi Moore has been a conspicuous pop culture sensation. Her portrayal of a bereaved girlfriend in the 1990 blockbuster, Ghost, has been her foremost éclat.
Daytime soap opera General Hospital first placed Demi Moore on the radar. As it were, Moore’s life itself is a soap. Growing up, Demi Moore a.k.a. Demetria Guynes was a kid living with a dysfunctional, poverty-stricken family.
Demi Moore landed her breakthrough in 1985, in the teen classic St. Elmo’s Fire, wherein she played a drug addict onscreen—and off. By playing opposite Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Judd Nelson, and Andrew McCarthy, Moore was installed into Hollywood’s infamous Brat Pack. Subsequently, she acted in moderate triumphs like About Last Night, The Seventh Sign, and A Few Good Men.
Demi Moore’s fame is not in a small way buoyed by flaunting her physical assets, as early as in her 1984 effort Blame It On Rio. She has posed nude for the magazine Oui and twice for Vanity Fair.
Mature audiences embraced her nonetheless for 1993’s Indecent Proposal, wherein she played a cash-strapped wife who beds Robert Redford’s character for $1 million. Conversely, her sexually charged efforts Disclosure and Striptease were flops, in league with subsequent vehicles The Scarlet Letter and The Juror. She then voiced Esmeralda for The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 1996. The following year, she sported a bald look for yet another box office dud, G.I. Jane.
Off-camera, she found solace that year when her production outfit, Moving Pictures, launched the first of the blockbuster Austin Powers series. Moore’s screen time itself became sporadic thereafter. Since 2000, she has showed up for Passion of Mind, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Half Light, and Mr. Brooks.
Moore, along with Madonna, is one high-profile proponent of Kabbalah, an ancient mystical sect. She wed Ashton Kutcher, sixteen years younger, in Kabbalah ceremonies in 2005. Previously, Moore had been married to actor Bruce Willis.
