Interview: Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, is currently one of the bestselling recording artists in the music industry. Born on March 28th 1986, she started out in the Lower East Side of New York’s rock scene and attended Tisch School of Arts at New York University. Earlier in her career, she wrote songs for fellow Interscope Records artists and was discovered by Akon, who later got her signed to Kon Live Distribution.
By 2008, Gaga released her first album called The Fame. It gained great reviews internationally and was number one in Ireland, Germany, Austria, Canada and the United Kingdom. With the success of her singles and the album, she gained six Grammy Award nominations and was awarded for Best Dance Recording and Best Electronic/Dance Album.
A year later, she released her second album called The Fame Monster, with the chart-topping single “Bad Romance.” She has had two world tours, The Fame Ball and The Monster Ball Tour, which came after every launch of her record.
Lady Gaga is said to be influenced by glam rock icons Queen and David Bowie, and pop legends Michael Jackson and Madonna. Fashion has also played a vital role in the success of her performances and songwriting.
At present, Lady Gaga has sold more than 40 million singles and 15 million records across the globe. In the May 2010 issue of Time magazine, she was listed as one of the 100 most influential persons in the world.
