Born of French descent, Jean-Marie Eveillard is a renowned asset manager noted for his value investing in Graham and Dodd. Growing up in Poitiers, France, Jean-Marie Eveillard was able to finish his economic studies at an esteemed French graduate school, the Ecoles Des Hautes Etudes Commerciales.
Regarded as a legend in the investing community, Jean-Marie Eveillard has made a number of appearances on Bloomberg Television as well as on other investing networks. He used to serve as the Portfolio Manager of the First Eagle Overseas Fund, the First Eagle Global Fund, the First Eagle US Value Fund, as well as the First Eagle Gold Fund.
His career began with one of France’s largest banks, the Societe Generale in 1962. In 1968, he moved to the United States. Two years after, Jean-Marie Eveillard began to work as an analyst for the SoGen International Fund. In 1979, he became the fund’s portfolio manager. On December of 2004, Jean-Marie Eveillard left his duties as the portfolio manager but remained as the fund’s senior vice president and senior adviser.
In 2001, Jean-Marie Eveillard was recognized as the Morningstar’s International Manager of the Year. Moreover, he became the recipient of Morningstar’s Lifetime Achievement Award for setting up one of the most successful long-term record in the investments industry in 2003.
Jean Marie Eveillard had recently made an appearance on FOX’s business exclusive. During that segment, he shared some insight regarding the economy as well as his speculations for its future. He also pointed out some of the most relevant topics with regards to the economy. Aside from talking about the economy’s sustainable recovery, he was also able to discuss potential growth of a few eastern countries such as India, Brazil, and China.
