Joe Grano, CEO & Chairman for Centurion Holdings LLC, is considered a legend on Wall Street and well-respected expert on the current events in the business world. Often, he has been invited to appear on numerous television news programs to discuss his views on the economy, financials, investing, mortgages and more.
Before his progression to Centurion, Joe Grano was the Chairman for UBS Financial Services, Inc., (UBS PaineWebber). Joe Grano was the Chairman of the Homeland Security for Secretary Michael Chertoff under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Before joining PaineWebber, Joe Grano worked for Merrill Lynch for 16 years, holding various senior management positions; such as, Director of National Sales. He was named the industry’s best retail marketing executive in a survey conducted by Investment Dealers’ Digest in 1987. Joe Grano was Chairman of the Board of Governors of the NASD and a member of the NASD’s Executive Committee.
Joseph Grano is also a passionate wine connoisseur. In a recent Forbes magazine interview, Joseph Grano was characteristically modest about his hobby. He told interviewer Nick Passmore, “It’s hard for me to categorize myself as a collector. I buy wines to keep. I don’t trade them. I buy what I like to drink. Obviously, I like good value, and I do get a bit of a rush if, like buying the 2000 Bordeaux futures, it’s going to turn out to be a great investment, but I hope not to sell it.” Joseph Grano lists the Nebbiolo, Tuscany, and Brunellos as among his favorite wines. When Passmore asked him what wine he would want on a desert island, Joseph Grano answered, “Probably an ‘82 Bordeaux. Ducru Beaucaillou is one of my favorites…an ‘82 Bordeaux and an ‘89 Barolo! Let me have two!”
Before he became a successful corporate chair and wine enthusiast, Joseph Grano served in the military with distinction. He was a captain in the Special Forces of the US Army, the Green Berets. Joseph Grano was awarded the Bronze Star for valor for time in Vietnam. During his service, Joseph Grano was severely wounded and assigned the status of 60% permanently disabled. Joseph Grano was also awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the USO Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Service.
